The second NRG building, anticipating a LEED-Gold certification rating, whose grand opening was November 1st improves upon the first building completed in 2004 and helps create a campus like setting on the outskirts of the village of Hinesburg, VT. At 31,000 square feet it is slightly smaller than the first but through many lessons learned from the first it is a smarter, more energy efficient and a more durable building.

NRG manufactures wind-monitoring equipment and has outgrown their current facility, which is a typical steel building. One of their goals for their new 40,000 SF building was to utilize renewable energy to supply all of their own yearly energy. Equally, but more important to them, was building a facility that is productive, pleasant, and satisfying for their employees and visitors.

Due to continued rapid growth, Seventh Generation is expanding their new headquarters in the Lake & College building. This project built on the environmental achievements of the original headquarters project and both are expected to achieve LEED-CI Gold certification. Material choices continued to be a focus with an emphasis on local materials, FSC certified wood and recycled content.
