Choices in Sustainability
Seventh Generation Phase 2 - Burlington, Vermont

Due to continued rapid growth, Seventh Generation is expanding their new headquarters in the Lake & College building. This project built on the environmental achievements of the original headquarters project and both are expected to achieve LEED-CI Gold certification. Material choices continued to be a focus with an emphasis on local materials, FSC certified wood and recycled content.

LEED-CI Gold Certification

Because of Seventh Generation's focus on providing a healthy workplace, ultra low-VOC products were used wherever possible and all paints, carpeting, composite wood materials, adhesives and sealants are low-emitting. The new space includes radiant heating and cooling panels for increased occupant comfort.

Additional skylights were added to improve daylighting and several features provide increased connection to nature. The expansion includes a green roof terrace where employees can meet or enjoy a quiet moment. The central stair was extended to the second floor and mezzanine with a planter and water feature at the base of the four story space.

Living room type conference rooms and open meeting areas are included to allow for informal meetings. Hotel spaces and quiet work areas allow employees to get away to a quiet/ private area to make important phone calls or perform tasks that require more concentration.
