Reception Desk, Vermont Energy Investment Corporation VEIC, Burlington, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsMaclay Architects was hired as the design architect for the new offices of the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC), the parent company of Efficiency Vermont, at the Innovation Center in Burlington.

SunCommon Headquarters - Waterbury, VT

suncommon thumb 1Maclay Architects was hired to explore the feasibility of constructing a new office building on a vacant site to accommodate the expanding company. Subsequently, SunCommon hired Maclay Architects to design the new office building.

This project was selected for the 2017 Merit Award at Efficiency Vermont's Better Buildings By Design, for Commercial New Construction.

Wind NRG Partners, LLC Phase 2 - Hinesburg, Vermont

LEED-Gold Certified - Renewables NRG Partners Headquarters Phase 2 - Hinesburg, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsThe second NRG building, anticipating a LEED-Gold certification rating, whose grand opening was November 1st improves upon the first building completed in 2004 and helps create a campus like setting on the outskirts of the village of Hinesburg, VT. At 31,000 square feet it is slightly smaller than the first but through many lessons learned from the first it is a smarter, more energy efficient and a more durable building.

LEED Gold Certified, Exterior Nightime, PV units, Pond - Renewable NRG Partners Headquarters Phase 1 - Hinesburg, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsNRG manufactures wind-monitoring equipment and has outgrown their current facility, which is a typical steel building. One of their goals for their new 40,000 SF building was to utilize renewable energy to supply all of their own yearly energy. Equally, but more important to them, was building a facility that is productive, pleasant, and satisfying for their employees and visitors.

This two story, 17,000 square foot office building is part of Middlebury South village, a mixed use development in Middlebury, Vermont.

Putney General Store - Putney, Vermont

Putney General Store - Putney, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsFor over 200 years the town of Putney has had an historic general store in the center of the village. That structure was completely lost in a fire during the fall of 2009. The Putney Historical Society selected Maclay Architects to design a new high-performance structure on the footprint of the former building.

This project was awarded the Best of the Best award at Efficiency Vermont's Better Buildings by Design conference in 2016 for an energy efficient renovation. 

Seventh Generation Phase 2 - Burlington, Vermont

Natural Lighting - Seventh Generation Headquarters Phase 2- Burlington, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsDue to continued rapid growth, Seventh Generation is expanding their new headquarters in the Lake & College building. This project built on the environmental achievements of the original headquarters project and both are expected to achieve LEED-CI Gold certification. Material choices continued to be a focus with an emphasis on local materials, FSC certified wood and recycled content.

Hunger Mountain COOP - Montpelier, Vermont

Hunger Mountain Co-op - Montpelier, Vermont - Maclay ArchitectsHunger Mountain Co-op is nestled on the banks of the Winooski River in Montpelier, Vermont. Hunger Mountain Co-op is a member-owned cooperative which offers a wide selection of natural foods and products and a full service deli-cafe.

The Phantom Laboratory designs and manufactures custom equipment and materials for medical research. They wanted a quality work environment for their employees that made the manufacturing space the focal point of their building.

Groton Redevelopment - Groton, Vermont

Groton Village Revitalization Project - Groton, Vermont - Maclay Architects

The Groton Village Revitalization Project, completed in 2006, is a mixed use housing, commercial and municipal project which rejuvenated the core of a small rural Vermont village. The recipient of a Smart Growth Award by the Vermont Forum on Sprawl in September of 2006, the revitalization project in Groton Village, a town of 900, is becoming a socio-economic hub for an area which was once void of culture and commerce.

Aquafuture, Inc. - Turners Falls, Massachusetts

AquaFuture Headquarters - Turners Falls, Massachusetts - Maclay ArchitectsAquaFuture developed a process for raising quality fish in a controlled environment. After operating a 4,000 SF prototype facility, AquaFuture hired a design/build firm to build a 40,000 SF headquarters and production facility.
