North Country School/Camp Treetops Performing Arts Center - Lake Placid, NY

ncspac cur thumb 1In 2015, Maclay Architects was hired to perform a feasibility study to assess the relative benefits of renovating North Country School and Camp Treetops' campus "Main Building" versus removing that building and replacing it with a new structure. As a result of this feasibility study, key programmatic functions the school and camp desired, but did not have, were identified. Following that study and building on a strong collaborative relationship, Maclay Architects was hired to design a new net zero ready Performing Arts Center for the school and camp.

Waterbury State Office Complex - Weeks + Hanks Building Renovations

wh cur thumb 1The Weeks and Hanks Buildings, both programmed as office buildings within the Waterbury State Office Complex, present many challenges. The Hanks Building is recognized as an historic structure, meaning that any work done to the building must take special care to preserve the historic character and features of the building. The Weeks Building, while not classified under the same standards as Hanks, is still an historic part of the Vermont State Hospital complex, and efforts must be taken to preserve it's integrity. Vacant since the flooding of Tropical Storm Irene, both buildings have previously been wet flood-proofed. Maclay Architects was hired to upgrade both buildings to meet the state's current requirements for secure, accessible, flexible office space.
