Hampshire college conducted a national search to select a planning team to assist them in developing an innovative sustainable campus plan and planning process. We assembled a team including energy consultants, development experts, landscape architects, and other architects with collegiate experience. Our team has worked with the college to integrate visionary goals, a community based planning process, and ongoing operational measures to begin to alter how the college functions in all of its endeavors. While the campus is not large, the campus feels dispersed and isolated. Our plans recommend generating a vibrant core in the center with student activity areas oriented toward a central green, covered walkways for easier walking in inclement weather, and academic programs, administration, and admission functions relocated for improved interaction.

Phased building improvement master plans are proposed for all buildings so that increment improvements will support environmental goals on an ongoing basis. We have worked to establish a participatory plan process so that environmental design becomes integrated through academic and operational activity.
