William Maclay of Maclay Architects renovated an old farmhouse on the property he shares with Maclay Architects in the historic village of Waitsfield.

This 18 unit housing project provides much-needed affordable homes for residents of the Mad River Valley. In collaboration with Housing Vermont and the Central Vermont Community Land Trust, we have designed and detailed these units with long-term energy costs in mind.

Champlain Valley Cohousing asked us to work with them and Kraus-Fitch Architects in designing their 24 family cohousing project in Charlotte.

This 30 unit Urban development is intended to encourage a wide range of housing options to meet the different and changing needs of households with children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and moderate and low income families.

The Groton Village Revitalization Project, completed in 2006, is a mixed use housing, commercial and municipal project which rejuvenated the core of a small rural Vermont village. The recipient of a Smart Growth Award by the Vermont Forum on Sprawl in September of 2006, the revitalization project in Groton Village, a town of 900, is becoming a socio-economic hub for an area which was once void of culture and commerce.

We added an addition on to an existing senior housing facility and community center.

A fire in the center of downtown Hardwick destroyed two buildings. Hardwick wanted a new building to bring vitality to the town and to relate to existing historic buildings.

A Vermont non-profit housing developer sought to renovate the Marshall Center (also known as the Fairfield Street School) into 14 units of affordable housing; four of the units are reserved for tenants with mental handicaps.

We worked with Gilman Housing Trust, Housing Vermont, and Rural Development to meet environmental, funding, accessibility, and historic preservation requirements.

Gilman Housing Trust, a local non-profit housing developer, owned a deteriorating 70's government funded housing project.

Since World War II, suburban sprawl, strip development and the advent of the automobile has lead to the decline of healthy and vibrant neighborhoods, village centers, and cities. As students in architecture school two colleagues and I designed Dimetrodon in response to this breakdown in development in the U.S., providing a working model of a more environmentally sound pattern for growth.

Fuller Hill Farm was designed to create a residential neighborhood. The development rights on 150 of the 200 acres were donated to the Vermont Land Trust, guaranteeing perpetual protection for wildlife habitat, meadows, and forestland.
